Many years back when I started photography I thought of shooting Moharam and Shiasm in Mumbai ..
I began documenting the most important month of the Shias Moharam and Ghame Hussain.
I shot the lives of the Shias living in Mumbai and how Moharam was interwoven in their aspirations of leading a life of peace and piety .
But something was missing it kept pushing me and oneday I met a Shia teacher gifted and modern he told me if you want to shoot Shiasm start shooting Tears and you will find huge lumps of frozn tears on the faces of the Shias in Lucknow on Athvi .. last segment of Moharam 2 month 8 day mourning .
So I came to Lucknow with an ambivalent mind to the city of my birth my Karma Dharma was Mumbai.
I shot tears on Athvi in BW ..Tears led me to the Shias pain scripted in Blood ..
So pain is the beginning and the end the Shias call it Ghame Hussain .
I have shot a cosmic bowl of tears in Mumbai Lucknow Hyderabad Chennai Delhi and Jaorah..
Wherever the Princess leads me I go carrying the wet hanky of Bibi Fatima .
I document the Shias ,,their love poetry pathos and passion.
But if I only shot Shiasm and did not shoot other faiths part and heart of India I would be a million miles away from the message of the Savior ,,, Hussain is Humanity ,,
I am everything but not a bigot .
