The nomads continue to exist and survive in India with their flocks of sheep and goats, walking vast distances everyday braving the sun, dust and the contempt of the motorists all over the country.
New roads have sprung up in place of the old ancient trails and pathways. Blocks of concrete encased in shiny glass and steel flank the roads. Electric poles and pylons carrying power lines criss cross the horizon. it is an ugly sight and an uglier situation. It is an urban ghetto caught in the middle of a development phase that is totally unfavorable to the old ways.
Haryana compared to other places is perhaps the worst offender for polluting the skyline with uglyness beyond compare.
Nomads such as these will continue to survive and exist raising up a cloud of dust in the dry scrubby roadsides and fields of India while the world motors on.

The nomads in India have different callings that have become hereditary in the stratified caste system that came in the Vedic period of history of the Indian sub continent and is still a plague that afflicts this country in countless ways.
While some still ferry sheep and goats from pasture to pasture, others like Lambadiyas carried salt and some others did the entertainment, snake charming etc., while some made iron implements and such moving from place to place.
This is a group of nomads who probably work in makeshift settlements that they put up and make iron implements and tools used in agriculture and houses.
Times have changed and you can make out at least one young nomad who has discarded the traditional clothes.
Even if it rains or snows, they swing low with heads held high on the highway of the Great Movement that began so many millions of year ago from the plains of Africa. While most of the mankind has stopped its yearly journeys in search for food, the journey has not stopped for these handful few.

Sun, the harbinger of life, on earth is the object of worship. Thousands of married women jostle in a crowded water tank or a pond or a river offering prayers to the Sun God requesting for plentiful in all aspects of life including am sure a lot of procreation.
The children of not so a lesser God had taken up seats to watch the grand tamasha. Happiness is a state of mind and not a reflection of worldly possessions or of being rich. You find that so eloquently in often the most deprived sections of life in India where they smile and live without a worry

It was kind of hot and muggy but a quick shower dimmed the discomfort of the early summer heat in Gurgaon.
