The muddy Chao Phraya

Koh Samui is famous for its rather pungent Durian fruit. Either you like this fruit or you just can not stand the smell of it. Thailand is the world's biggest exporter of this fruit. Many hotels do not allow visitors to bring in the fruit within their premises..
Khun Nim is the person who made Durian grown in Koh Samui, a famous fruit. His claim to fame is not confined to this smelly achievement alone. He in his later years made a dream like garden alongside a hill face replete with small waterfalls and statues of all shapes and sizes made out of concrete and cement depicting Thai folklore around the Buddhist Faith.
From age 76 to 91, when he died, this Durian Farmer devoted himself to cultivating this Secret Garden.
It is a pretty sight with the enactment of various stages and episodes from Buddha;s life as well as local tales.
Statues of all shapes and sizes are scattered around the grounds,. The work done by the farmer and his team are distinct and different. Not the smooth flowing lines of statues that are to be seen in Northern Thailand or even Bangkok. They are raw and evocative of the idea of someone's passion and zeal and effort.
Secret Buddha Garden is located on a hilltop with a rather ardous climb on a 4x4 vehicle.
This is obviously a dance choregraphy vignette which was shot totally against thelight hence the image lighting is not really the best.

The complex setup of the sculptures with Buddha or a Buddhist monk sitting with eyes closed and in deep meditation. A scantily clad young woman lazing in the sun. A mythical Lion just about to jump and a tapir like dog also sniffing the air with its head held high. I have no idea what the story line is. Perhaps it is about seduction, distractions and such stuff.
