Devise nationale de la France au début de la Révolution, durant la période de la monarchie constitutionnelle en 1791-1792. "Le Roi" n'est pas écrit explicitement mais est symbolisé par un écusson avec couronne et fleur de lys figurant en-dessous de "Nation". Peut-être est-ce grâce à cette référence discrète que cette inscription - qui doit dater de cette période - a été conservée les années suivantes (toute référence explicite au roi étant, je suppose, bannie à partir de fin 92 et ce, jusqu'à la Restauration en 1815). La plaque au sommet de la voûte contenait les armes du prince de Monaco car Chabeuil a été monégasque pendant un siècle et demi. Celles-ci ont été martelées au moment de la Révolution.

The Nation, the Law, the King
National motto of France at the beginning of the Revolution, during the period of the constitutional monarchy in 1791-1792. "The King" is not written explicitly but is symbolized by a shield with a crown and fleur-de-lis appearing below "Nation". Perhaps it is thanks to this discreet reference that this inscription - which must date from this period - was preserved in the following years (all explicit references to the king being presumably banned from the end of 92 until the Restoration in 1815). The plaque at the top of the vault contained the coat of arms of the Prince of Monaco, as Chabeuil was Monegasque for a century and a half. These were hammered out at the time of the Revolution.
