I was walking along the towpath of the Lancaster Canal with our little Yorkie, when this narrowboat came into sight, and we exchanged waves. As they slowly passed, we had a brief, friendly chat. This was the first time they had hired a boat, and they seemed to be doing very well. They were just about to pass under the bridge at Borwick, which is Grade II-listed and dates from 1793. They were heading for Tewitfield and the end of the canal.
