Sticking with Norman Foster, here's a shot taken on a recent 12hr photo-marathon to mark the 31st birthday of the Docklands Light Railway. I've photographed Canary Wharf Underground station several times before but I think this panoramic crop of a fisheye shot is one of my favourites.

From Wikipedia : "Above ground there is little sign of the vast interior: two curved glass canopies at the east and west ends of the station cover the entrances and allow daylight into the ticket hall below. The Jubilee Park, a public park is situated between the two canopies, above the station concourse. It had originally been intended that the infilled section of the dock would be reinstated above the station, but this proved impractical because of technical difficulties and the park was created instead.

As with the other below-ground stations on the Jubilee Line extension, both station platforms are equipped with platform screen doors.

Canary Wharf station has become one of the busiest stations on the network, serving the ever-expanding Canary Wharf business district. Although it shares its name with the Docklands Light Railway station at Canary Wharf, the two are not directly integrated (in fact, Heron Quays DLR station is nearer at street level). All three stations are connected underground via shopping malls. Out-of-station interchange within twenty minutes between any two of the stations entails no additional charge."

I thought this image of the Canary Wharf Underground station would work well in black and white but I think I actually prefer the colour version.

I'd be interested to know what other people think ?

This 1600 ISO night time shot of One Canada Square is one of my favourites taken on a recent 12hr photo-marathon to mark the 31st birthday of the Docklands Light Railway.

From Wikipedia : "One Canada Square, sometimes called Canary Wharf Tower or simply Canary Wharf, is a skyscraper in Canary Wharf, London. It is the second tallest building in the United Kingdom at 770 feet (235 m) above ground level containing 50 stories.

One Canada Square was designed by Cesar Pelli, Adamson Associates and Frederick Gibberd Coombes. The design and shape are based on earlier precedents buildings that include Brookfield Place and Elizabeth Tower. The building is clad with durable stainless steel. One of the predominant features of the building is the pyramid roof, which contains a flashing aircraft warning light, a rare feature for buildings in the United Kingdom. The distinctive pyramid pinnacle is 800 feet (240 m) above sea level.

One Canada Square is primarily used for offices, though there are some retail units on the lower ground floor. There is no observation floor. It is a prestigious location for offices and as of October 2017 was 100% let. The building is recognised as a London landmark, and it has gained much attention through film, television, and other media as one of the tallest buildings in the United Kingdom. "

And now for something a bit different from me......... This almost abstract shot is a one second exposure taken as a DLR train passed me. Rather than a failed panning shot I was aiming for something quite abstract.

This is one of the more unusual shots I took during the recent DLR31 12hr Photo marathon. Taking part in such events, particularly those with quite narrow themes, can make you think a bit more creatively as you try to take some different photos to other people.

From Wikipedia : "The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is an automated light metro system opened in 1987 to serve the redeveloped Docklands area of East London, England. It reaches north to Stratford, south to Lewisham across the River Thames, west to Tower Gateway and Bank in the City of London financial district, and east to Beckton, London City Airport, and to Woolwich Arsenal south of the river.

The system uses minimal staffing on trains and at major interchange stations; the four below-ground stations are staffed to comply with underground station fire and safety requirements. Similar proposals have been made for the Tube. Lit by some lovely early evening light, here one of their trains passes in front of the Crossrail terminal in Docklands.

The DLR is operated under a franchise awarded by Transport for London to KeolisAmey Docklands, a joint venture between transport operator Keolis and infrastructure specialists Amey plc. It was previously run for over 17 years by Serco Docklands, part of the Serco Group. The system is owned by Docklands Light Railway Ltd, part of the London Rail division of Transport for London. In 2016/17, the DLR carried 122.3 million passengers. It has been extended several times and further extensions are under consideration. "
