And now for something a bit different from me......... This almost abstract shot is a one second exposure taken as a DLR train passed me. Rather than a failed panning shot I was aiming for something quite abstract.
This is one of the more unusual shots I took during the recent DLR31 12hr Photo marathon. Taking part in such events, particularly those with quite narrow themes, can make you think a bit more creatively as you try to take some different photos to other people.

From Wikipedia : "The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is an automated light metro system opened in 1987 to serve the redeveloped Docklands area of East London, England. It reaches north to Stratford, south to Lewisham across the River Thames, west to Tower Gateway and Bank in the City of London financial district, and east to Beckton, London City Airport, and to Woolwich Arsenal south of the river.
The system uses minimal staffing on trains and at major interchange stations; the four below-ground stations are staffed to comply with underground station fire and safety requirements. Similar proposals have been made for the Tube. Lit by some lovely early evening light, here one of their trains passes in front of the Crossrail terminal in Docklands.
The DLR is operated under a franchise awarded by Transport for London to KeolisAmey Docklands, a joint venture between transport operator Keolis and infrastructure specialists Amey plc. It was previously run for over 17 years by Serco Docklands, part of the Serco Group. The system is owned by Docklands Light Railway Ltd, part of the London Rail division of Transport for London. In 2016/17, the DLR carried 122.3 million passengers. It has been extended several times and further extensions are under consideration. "
