Annika is half a year old now! It's totally cliche, but dang time sure flies with children. She's been sitting for the past few weeks, which is so much fun for all of us. She happily plays on the floor for a good chunk of time before needing assistance. And Elliott has even more fun with her now that she's getting to be more and more resilient and engaging. He'll hand her toys or put her bipsy in her mouth, or when she's crying he'll calmly shush her. She gets so much entertainment with the three-ring circus constantly going on in our house. There is normally Elliott jumping and running around, Ollie being a sweet and large dog, and of course me bustling around the house cleaning up after all of the chaos.
A few weeks ago Annika began to wave. Now when people are leaving our house she usually always waves at them. I left the house the other night and she waved at me before I had even started waving at her. She also initiates games of peekaboo with us. She'll pull a blanket or jacket over her face, then quickly whip it down with a sly smile on her face. She does laugh a ton, we try to get her to laugh, but the best she'll do is a little chuckle. She's a tough audience.
A week ago she woke up barely able to breath. She was screaming and panicking. We realized it was croup and took her outside, which helped enough to get her to calm down and go back to sleep. We were up a lot of that night checking to make sure she was still breathing. A very scary night.
Her sleeping has finally gotten better. Just recently she started sleeping in an eight hour stretch. Since her bedtime is 7:30, she usually doesn't wake up until around 4am. Then it just takes a good nursing session and she'll give us a couple more hours.
During this past month we made a trip to Pacific City with my dad's family. We stayed in a huge beach house and ate a ton of food, walked on the beach during a full moon, and relaxed. Annika was a perfect angel the entire time because she had so many people holding her and passing her around. She has so many people who love her.
We are so in love with our beautiful, calm girl. And we fall even more in love with her every day.
