about half an hour after the thunderstorm of clapping from the insta-kids who flock to the slopes of oia to watch sun go down only to escape the spot immediately after taking that compulsory photo. few "old people" (40+ that is :/ ) remain there to watch the electric warm dusk colours of the skies and the amazing blue illuminated swimming pools

not exactly "off the beaten track" on santorini, but definitely way behind the fame of oia or thira, megalochori is a very picturesque village off the coast of the island, absolutely worth a side trip (give it few hours to visit together with emporio). truly a charming spot free of crowds even in the height of touristic season
