The future...
There are many children at Killing Fields who would crowd visiting tourists. They would gather together, and say in a singsong way,
"1, 2, 3...Smile!!"
Sorry... I don't like taking posed shots...

My apologies.
Today, July 7th 2018, I'm reposting a photo from about 12 years ago (both shot and originally posted on flickr).
I shot this in Phnom Penh at the Killing Fields on my second trip to Cambodia. I've been to Cambodia thrice and interestingly with 3 different people from 3 different continents and all the trips took place in 2006.
I've never been back there since and I have no intention to return either as I would like to remember the country the way it was, before fast food and before obesity (which I think is there now although I don't think as much as elsewhere).
This shot is significant to me as it's the first shot I've taken that had truly increased my confidence in photography.
In fact, I consider this photo as one of my 25 best shots.

For the next few weeks I shall be bringing you images from my recent trip to Siem Riep Cambodia, home of the Angkor Wat.
I hope you like what I have to show...
I start my Siem Riep series with this image of a beggar I chanced across. Each time I look at this picture I couldn't help but wonder about the tough life this man has led... And if he ever laughed...

Two years ago she was abandoned at Angkor Wat. Now she lives with 47 other orphans at the Sangkheum Center for Children (a privately funded Center).
If you are interested in making a difference in the lives of Cambodian children or if you require further information, you could contact Kim Derudder at Kimderudder@jpacambodia.com. I'm certain he would be glad to assist.

ps: This is the second photo in my PEOPLE OF SIEM RIEP SERIES. Next is PEOPLE OF SIEM RIEP... LOVE... A photo that affects me more than this one does..

They are among the many children who sell trinkets at various temples at Siem Riep. When I visited this particular temple, the children were playing a game where one would throw a ball and try to hit the other children who would try to evade the ball. This particular girl likes to jump. In fact, in this case, no ball was thrown and yet she still jumps...
It is really good to see these children being children :)

ps: Thank you again for visiting, commenting and faving. Please take the time to visit the other pictures in this series.
The next picture in the series is titled PEOPLE OF SIEM RIEP... ANGRY...
