Friday, 27 November 2020: our temperature at 2:00 pm is PLUS 10C (windchill PLUS 8C). Sunrise is at 8:13 am and sunset is at 4:34 pm. A mix of sun and cloud.

Wanting to see and get a few photos of snowy peaks, I took myself off into Kananaskis for just a short while yesterday. I knew which locations I wanted to stop at briefly (sitting in my car). The weather was beautiful and sunny. The roads were pretty good, with some snow patches mixed with bare surface. Not exactly my favourite conditions on which to drive, though.

I called in at my final spot, wanting to turn around and head for home. A couple of friends were there, sitting in their vehicle, after searching for their target bird. They were totally out of luck, as there was an avalanche training day going on, pushing the birds away from the area because there were too many people.

Noticing that it was still quite early in the day, I decided on the spur of the moment to call in at the Saskatoon Farm for a meal. I knew I wanted to avoid the confusing new intersection on the south end of the city, so I cut across towards the east and ended up not too far from the Farm. Took forever, as I got lost just west of the main north/south highway. Roads have different numbers/names on different maps and I couldn't find the one I needed.

It always feels good to enjoy a meal at the Farm and be welcomed with a happy smile. The staff are so friendly there. After grabbing a couple of their tubs of frozen soup, I headed for home, arriving as it was getting dark. Quarter of an hour earlier would have been better, given my lousy night vision.

It felt good to see the mountains in their winter colours and in sunshine. It was the American Thanksgiving yesterday, but I always feel very thankful to be able to get out into such magnificent scenery.
