The last two 'proper' drives I did were on 8 and 12 October 2021! It has been a long time without drives out of the city and yesterday, 29 January 2022, I was finally able to get out there. There was cloud all day, but at least it prevented bright, glaring sun, which makes driving so unpleasant. Total mileage was 304 km.

One of the reasons I really wanted to go was that I had not yet seen a Snowy Owl this winter, It can easily take a few drives to finally be able to find one - no owl to be seen this time. I still enjoyed seeing and photographing several familiar old barns.

Not only did I not see a Snowy, but the only birds I did see were Black-billed Magpies and several House Sparrows. Felt good, though, to see prairie landscape for a few hours.
