This evening, I have posted five photos taken this afternoon, 7 August 2021. Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow, so I thought I would drive a few roads today. However, there were few birds to be seen, and I found that I was not getting sharp photos. A few spots of rain and I decided that I was ready to return home. It's so unusual for me to not enjoy a drive, but I felt like I was just driving for the sake of driving.

At this time of year, birds can seem few and far between in comparison to springtime. I returned to where I had seen three families of Lesser Scaups recently. The ducklings are so cute and their mothers brought them closer to my side of the pond, like last time. Still too far away to get sharp photos.

The tiny House Wren surprised me and I was hoping to get a better shot. Out of luck, though, and I almost missed the one I posted.

Today was a Saturday, not the best day to be out. Lots of cyclists on the back roads and so many people everywhere on the main roads. When I got back to the city, I called in at a great little coffee place/restaurant, Pies +, and stocked up on different kinds of meat pies. They are always so good!

So far, the weather for next week looks promising. Time for another 'real' drive, I think. With luck, maybe the smoke from all the B.C. wildfires will blow in a different direction, away from Alberta. Thinking of all the firefighters, who have such an incredibly difficult job to do.
