The generic term “Ipoh White Coffee” in Chinese is ‘bak ko pi’ (白咖啡); the “white” term has nothing to do with the colour in this instance, but is rather a reference to the way how the coffee is roasted. In Chinese, Bái (白） also means ‘without, or unadulterated, nothing has been added to the coffee during the roasting process. Since White Coffee has been recognized as one of the official drink of Malaysia at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, this significant brew might just be Ipoh’s biggest contribution to the country!

Right now I feel like a bird
caged without a key.
Ev'ryone comes to stare at me

** Many people have asked if I brought the bird home or I should have let it go. These birds in cages are the prides and joys of the locals who were having breakfast at an opened cafe in the north part of Malaysia. Although it is a sad fact that these birds are in cages...the owners paid high prices for these birds and do take great care of them. They take effort to display them to the other bird lovers every morning when they gather together. (To me...it is just like the animals in the zoo-- well taken care of but in cages!)
I would have let them all go....but I might not live to get out of there ;D
