This absolutely gorgeous mural is by one of my favourite artists, the very talented Melanie Caple.

It was painted during the recent Benalla Street Art Festival at The Merchant Cafe.

It features a Yellow-tufted Honeyeater and a Dusky Woodswallow and is Inspired by the colours of the ochre plains that surround the Benalla region and the old gnarly gums that line the waterways, these two bird species can be found in the nearby Winton Wetlands.

This mural is also special to me because I was very honoured to have Melanie use one of my photos as the reference for the Dusky Woodswallow.

We had a lovely brunch and coffee at The Merchant today on our way to Bright, highly recommend this lovely little cafe.
