Inside the Ansonia Opera House. This place was built in 1870 and served many uses for the community before closing in 1971, including gymnasium. (You can see basketball backboards in this image.)
The building has not aged well, with the rot of deferred maintenance showing beside the scars of adaptive reuse.

Fragments of the industrial history of Amsterdam, N.Y.
If I read the layout correctly, I am standing on what was once the ground floor, looking through a doorway. There’s a Dunkin’ Donuts just beyond the wall … which would have been a nice juxtaposition, had I been able to line it up.

Strange and wonderful sight in the woods near the Mohawk River: A small mountain of bubblegum-colored fuzz in a cheaply built little outbuilding.
The ruins of a small industrial site stand a few feet away but it’s so far gone that I can’t guess what it once was.
