After a disappointing morning at Lamberton with drifting exhaust I hoped for better luck with the return. The lovely station of Chathill was my chosen location on the ECML for the returning RTC Edinburgh Flyer charter. The lovely Grade 11 listed station house can be seen on the northbound platform now privately owned. The owner is one of the people watching on the platform. The station also retains a signal box not in operation and the original waiting rooms just in shot on the right hand side. They were covered in scaffold and awaiting renovation or demolition I was told. 46115 races through three minutes down a magnificent sight it was. Yellow line removed from platform.

RTC Cumbrian Mountain Express with LMS Stanier Royal Scot 4-6-0 No 46115 Scots Guardsman making a fine sight and sound climbing to the summit at Angrholm. Not much sun around today but at least it was dry unlike around 1.30 when the heavens opened.

Twenty minutes after 46100 had gone over Shap 46115 'Scots Guardsman' running seven late without any assistance is seen climbing towards Shap summit with the RTC CME. A remarkable day on Shap not the best of conditions for those that went out but the sight and sound was well worth the journey alone.

Coming away from Shap after the two Royal Scots had gone through the light over the Howgills was fabulous. Sadly that was the best of the light we saw all day. Moving over to the S&C conditions were still challenging for the return CME with 46115. The three photographers standing at Waitby were treated to some wonderful sound from the Royal Scot on the approach to our location. Dull light it might have been but the sound on both the WCML and the S&C from both Royal Scots today was well worth the journey north.
