Hong Kong (Chinese: 香港) is one of two special administrative regions (SARs) of the People's Republic of China (PRC), the other being Macau. Situated on China's south coast and enclosed by the Pearl River Delta and South China Sea,[9] it is renowned for its expansive skyline and deep natural harbour. With a land mass of 1,104 km2 (426 sq mi) and a population of seven million people, Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated areas in the world.

A junk is an ancient Chinese sailing vessel design still in use today. Junks were developed during the Han Dynasty (206 BC–220 AD) and were used as sea-going vessels as early as the 2nd century AD. They evolved in the later dynasties, and were used throughout Asia for extensive ocean voyages. They were found, and in lesser numbers are still found, throughout South-East Asia and India, but primarily in China, perhaps most famously in Hong Kong. Found more broadly today is a growing number of modern recreational junk-rigged sailboats.

Victoria Peak (traditional Chinese: 太平山, or previously- 扯旗山) is a mountain in Hong Kong. It is also known as Mount Austin, and locally as The Peak. The mountain is located in the western half of Hong Kong Island. With an altitude of 552 m (1,811 ft), it is the highest mountain on the island proper. With some seven million visitors every year, the Peak is a major tourist attraction of Hong Kong. It offers spectacular views of the city and its harbours. The number of visitors led to the construction of two major leisure and shopping centres, the Peak Tower and the Peak Galleria, situated adjacent to each other.

There is not much creativity one can do about this shot as the view is more or less give by the view point. However it is a shot I wanted to have in my portfolio for a long time and I'm happy to have it now although I have to admit that it is still quite an effort to get it. You first need to get there in time - which I nearly didnt as I didnt realize how long queues there will be to get to the top, you need to push yourself through the crowd and find a spot amongst that huge amount of people (all wanting to be photographed with this view) to pitch a tripod and while doing all of that you need to pray that the smog will be as limited as possible, which is one of those factors that can quite often ruin shot like this. I only wish I could have done something about that supernova (strong billboard light in the middle), but the light was so strong still during the twilight...

Asia - Hong Kong - 香港 - Special administrative regions (SARs) of the People's Republic of China - Man Mo Temple - Man Mo Miu - 文武廟 - Temple for the worship of the civil or literature god Man Tai (文帝) - Man Cheong (文昌) & martial god Mo Tai (武帝) - Kwan Tai (關帝) - Burning incense coils used in religious ceremonies, ritual purification, meditation & for creating a spiritual atmosphere

A Man Mo Temple or Man Mo Miu (traditional Chinese: 文武廟) is a temple for the worship of the civil or literature god Man Tai (文帝) / Man Cheong (文昌) and the martial god Mo Tai (武帝) / Kwan Tai (關帝). The two gods were popularly patronized by scholars and students seeking progress in their study or ranking in the civil examinations in the Ming and Qing dynasties. There are several Man Mo Temples in Hong Kong. This shot is from the one on Hollywood Road.

Incense spirals (also called incense coils) are one of the forms of incense. An incense coil is made entirely of incense, without a bamboo core in the middle as seen with incense sticks. They are called incense spirals because they are shaped into a spiral instead of a straight stick shape. A spiral shape allows for a much larger piece of incense which burns longer while taking up little space. An incense stick can be made in any length, but the longer the stick, the greater the chance of breakage. This limits incense sticks to no more than three feet in length in general practice. Incense coils have been in use for a considerable length of time in the East thanks to their much longer burn times and compact footprint. For temples and monasteries which use a lot of incense, these coils are ideal. The coils can be suspended from the ceiling which allows more floor space to be freed up for worshippers. It is not uncommon to see a temple ceiling which is covered with large hanging incense coils. These coils can burn for days at a time. Incense coils this size are not very practical for use in the home, however.

Joss sticks are a type of incense used in many East Asian countries, traditionally burned before a Chinese religious image, idol or shrine. They can also be burned in front of a door, or open window as an offering to heaven, or devas. In modern days, joss sticks can be used for any purpose, such as to enhance the smell of a room, or to light fire crackers. The word "joss" is derived from the Latin deus (god) via Portuguese. Spiral joss sticks are also used on a regular basis, which are found hanging above temple ceilings, with burn times that are exceedingly long.
