Directly on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, there is the favorite suburban palace of Peter I - "Monplaisir" (fr. mon plaisir - "my delight").The idea of the construction was defined by the sketches and the schematic drawings of the Tsar himself, who сhalked out not only the site but also the inside layout, some elements of the decorative finish, etc. The appearance of "Monplaisir" reflected the unique individuality of the first Russian emperor, his aesthetic taste, interests and affection. The decoration was obviously conceived under the influence of the Dutch architecture of the XVIII century, this is why the palace was sometimes called: "The Dutch house".

Portrait of the cormorant fisherman illuminated by his gas lamp at dawn. The karst peaks of Guilin are in the background. You may be wondering if the cormorants spread their wings just for the camera. This is actually their natural behavior. The birds spread their wings after they dive for fish in order to quickly dry them.

"And if my life was a ladder
I've spent the whole of it
Looking for the next step
Convinced that you are on the roof
Waiting to see if I arrive." Robe Iniesta.

When we plan our itineraries, we always try to add small towns of great beauty and rich history, perhaps not as well-known as other places, but equally interesting. So when I first learned about the beautiful village of Sirince, with less than 500 inhabitants, I decided that it could not be missed on our recent trip to Turkey. Located on a mountainous area a few kilometers away from the city of Selçuk and the ruins of Ephesus, Sirince is gradually gaining popularity as a tourist destination, thanks to its charming cobblestone streets and its beautiful architecture with wooden details, a mix of its Christian and Ottoman past. Most of the current buildings in Sirince date back to the 19th century, but it is the year 1923 that marks a before and after in this town, since it was then when the vast majority of its Greek population was exchanged with Turkish population from Greece, after the agreement between both countries at the end of the war.
Today, many of the houses in Sirince are being rehabilitated, respecting their original structure and materials, although some like the one in the center of this photograph still clearly show the ravages of the passage of time. Walking around Sirince with my wife posing for my photographs in her beautiful burgundy dress, made the experience of exploring this town even more unforgettable to me.

"Y si fuera mi vida una escalera
Me la he pasado entera
Buscando el siguiente escalón
Convencido que estás en el tejado
Esperando a ver si llego yo." Robe Iniesta.
