Geese get a drink from the melting snow.
All winter these hang in the park because there is a little old Chinese man who brings these garbage bags filled with bread crusts from the bread plant nearby. The sign reads not to feed the birds and wildlife otherwise a stiff fine will be charged. I guess that he doesn't speak english. Anyway this scene indicates that the departure of the geese is soon to come and warmer days will follow, as there won't be any snow for them to drink.
