27th (or rather early hours of 28th) January 2013 at Walkabout, Glasgow.

Festival Club, Celtic Connections Festival, www.celticconnections.com/.

Country: Britain - Scotland. Style: Traditional Scottish Folk.

Lineup: Calum MacCrimmon (low whistle), Hamish Napier (flute), Adam Sutherland (fiddle), Tommi Asplund (fiddle), John Somerville (piano accordion), Laura-Beth Salter (mandolin/v), Andy Thorburn (piano), James Lindsay (b), and (probably) Steve Forman (percussion).

One of the features of the Festival Club over the years has been the appearance of pickup as well as regular bands (sometimes it seemed people Todd Gibb found in the corridors of the Central Hotel and enticed on stage). A surprising feature of Celtic Connections has been the lack of much of a fringe. This year Calum MacCrimmon (of Brebach and Man’s Ruin) and Laura-Beth Salter (of The Shee) made up for the lack of the Festival Club in midweek by organising gigs and sessions under the name “Folky Town” at the Flying Duck bar. This band appearing at the Club was made up of people who had been involved at the Flying Duck, and was composed in the main of members of Man’s Ruin (MacCrimmon, Napier and Lindsay) and Babelfish (Thorburn, Sutherland and Somerville).
