Duarte, was born in Évora in the Alentejo region in the south of Portugal (growing up in the village of Arraiolos). He still lives there working as a Clinical Psychologist (travelling regularly to Lisbon to perform at the Señor Vinho fado house). During his set he took a break from Fado to sing some traditional songs from Alentejo, accompanying himself on guitar.
