I'm finally getting the hang of using my Canon 580EX Speedlite, and put it to good use on Christmas evening. I still need lots more practice to master the thing, and a 3rd hand would come in useful too...

Bouncing it off the ceiling doesn't work in this room, as the ceiling is about 20 feet high; so I held the flash unit as far away as I could in my left hand and aimed it sort of slightly above their heads; my arms were aching the next day :)

The family calls me the paparazzi when I have my camera strapped on - I think mamarazzi would be more apt.
