We had a fantastic ride to the top on the cable car, and I've edited and looked at these images many times; but this is the first time I ever noticed that there are 2 maintenance men up on the top of the crossbars over the pylon! There is not enough $$$ in the world to make me go up there!

6 years ago today, we visited the impressive Mayan ruins at Tulum, Mexico. Tulum was one of the last cities built and inhabited by the Maya and achieved its greatest prominence between the 13th and 15th centuries. Maya continued to occupy Tulum for about 70 years after the Spanish began occupying Mexico, but the city was abandoned by the end of the 16th century. Tulum is one of the best-preserved coastal Maya sites.

I'm so envious of those who got to experience "Totality"! I hope to experience it at least once in my lifetime, even if it means traveling elsewhere in the world !

It wasn't quite as exciting here in California. We saw ~35% of the sun eclipsed. I enjoyed setting up the camera and figuring out to photograph it effectively right from my own driveway. We had lots of neighbors stop by and borrow our eclipse glasses. Each and every one of them said "oh, wow" when they saw the big bite that the moon had taken out of the sun.

We didn’t travel far to see the eclipse. Just walked out to the driveway, and set up the tripod and camera with 400mm lens and a small sheet of solar film.
