Once the water of "Cromme IJe" had a brackish character. Nowadays you'll find highly appreciated botanical relics of that brackish environment along the banks of the lake, as well as other botanical treasures in the sphagnum reeds. Krommenieer Woudpolder is known for its meadow- and marshland birds.
