Near Healy, Kansas. This lek was kind of disappointing photo-wise, mostly because no females were present an the guys seemed a bit subdued as a result. Not a lot of jumping or tussling.

Kearney, Nebraska. One of the fledglings had been blown out of the nest by high winds and was on the ground. Mom was nearby caring for it as best she could. I don't know how it turned out. The young owl was pretty ferocious so I doubt any animals messed with it.
