In a frenzied attempt to capture an image of this gorgeous purple-crested turaco, I grabbed the camera nearest to hand (which happened to be my husband's) and snapped a few shots. The image is rather soft, but aren't the colours just amazing!!

Sculpture by Mary Stainbank (1899-1996) can be seen at the Kenneth Stainbank Nature Reserve, Yellowwood Park, Durban. Her work is entitled "Fate" and includes a quote from "Aylmer's Field" by Lord Alfred Tennyson - "Is there no stoning save with flint and rock?"

Would have loved to have seen the rest of her work, but due to Covid restrictions (I think) the art gallery was not open.

In the middle of suburbia is this gem. Less than 100m away is a 6-lane highway, (N3 linking Johannesburg & Durban) but one would never know. I'm not ecstatic about this shot, but am mildly satisfied. Will have to visit this spot again and try and get a better angle/composition.
