More footprints left in the sand by passing beach-goers.
I would also love to do a show of this stuff in a gallery somewhere. A mildly funny thought considering I have been approached by three different galleries to do shows this year, and was even offered a free show (all printing expenses paid for) last night during the Lightbox Opening. But I do not think I am quite there just yet in terms of being ready to show this, either in work done or finances to print and frame. Though Andrew if you are reading this, I may have to talk to you about Newspace's schedule and how to go about submitting this possibly for their upcoming calendar of shows, perhaps in 2010.
And now you have come to the end of this small series. Thanks for poking through it this far. I hope the next time you are on the beach something you saw here will hit a switch in your imagination, lighting up some scene you had never previously noticed or appreciated previously.

The leftover tracks left by people climbing the dunes near the Peter Iredale shipwreck. They are already well on their way to be eroded beyond recognition.
I have some big plans plans for this series actually. It was suggested to me that I submit this to Lenswork Magazine, a magazine I have long wanted to submit to but have never really felt certain enough about any one body of work to actually move forward with. I think I may have just found it, though I do plan on polishing this series up a bit more, adding to it, revising and editing pictures, etc. Though I am pretty pleased with what I have accomplished so far with it

I cannot help but try to put order to what appears to be a maze, it almost seems to well thought out to be the random patterns of sand and wind. Crazy huh?

As the wind whips across the dunes, wherever there are little particles of solid matter, a piece of wood here, some shell there, or a stone, they create these rills of sand. Each of these formations is unique and has its own genesis in a different piece of something. If you were to pluck that shell, stone or wood up, that ridge of sand would be wiped out within a few hours I am guessing.

Those windy days, where the sand is packed and the loose, dry particles blow across its surface are particularly hypnotic for me. I have tried on several occasions to photograph this phenomenon, always with only mild success at best. On my last trip to Bandon I recorded a short video of this, and that was much more successful at capturing the combined dance of sand and wind, two elements that are utterly Ocean. This was the most successful still image of the day.
