A senior citizen came to the store with 110 film she wanted to develop. I told her I could develop it for her, since there are no labs around here that processes 110 film anymore. Anyhow, the film was around 40 years old, and unfortunately didn't yield any results; the emulsion was probably too far gone to be light sensitive. She did come back, and I did give her a fresh roll of 35mm film and loaded onto a Pentax point and shoot she had, and offered her to develop and scan the roll once she finished it. She also brought an assortment of cameras, including three 126 cameras. She asked if they were still any good, and I told her 126 film is no longer made, so the cameras would only be good for display or film enthusiasts. She asked what she could do with the cameras, and I told her she could leave them with us, and I would develop and see if there was anything in the 126 cartridge that was inside one of the cameras, plus an old roll of 35 Ultramax 400.

This Kodak Instamatic X-30 was one of the cameras. I believe it has an f/11 aperture and shutter speed of 1/200th without battery. I managed to crack the 126 cartridge that was inside another camera, so I'll develop the film. I re-spooled some Flic Film Ultrapan 400 (Fomapan 400) to the backing paper and back into the cartridge, so I'll try shooting with this X-30. If results aren't too bad, I know I can order a re-loadable cassette. I know these 126 cameras are technically still usable, but one does need to re-spool film, then if you don't home-develop, re-spool the film back onto a 35mm cartridge, and I don't think a lab would be able to scan it, unless they use a flatbed, so it's definitely not practical. I can do everything at home, so I can still save this one from the bin.

Red Robin's I started from seeds. I'm re-using some 4L water bottles for their final homes. I hope they'll be stable. I think they'll be good here, since there's a lot of room for the roots to go deep.

Night temperatures are still cool, with forecasts between 5-9°C this week, but I planted a couple of red robin's to see how they handle being out. All my other starting plants are inside; however, I think I'll be transplanting them outside this Tuesday and Saturday.
