Elaine McCabe was living in Huntsville Alabama, heart of the Bible belt, when her brother was diagnosed with AIDS. She started the first very confidential support group for people with HIV and their families in Huntsville.
Elaine's brother died in 1991. When Elaine founded her candy company in 2009 she wanted a name that meant something to her. She picked Red Kite Candy Company remembering the kites she used to fly with her brother when they were children.

Just outside Gwinn. Not to be confused with the other Bass Lake outside of Gwinn. Locals sometimes refer to this one (which is where our cabin is) as East Bass Lake. Looking generally east northeast.
The lake does not have either an inlet or an outlet. It drains the Great Cyr Swamp which takes up much of the central U.P.
