The Pink Elephant antique mall is a real roadside attraction--on the old Rte 66 but also right along I-55. There are several large pink elephants, of course, but also an ice cream stand, a spaceship, a three story tall guy in a swimsuit, and more.
It turns out, on further investigation, that is is not a spaceship, but a "Futuro House." Great story here
