Back in my Freshman Latin class in 1962, Lola Morrison told us that if we ever went to Rome we'd see SPQR (from the Latin for Senate and the Roman People)everywhere. It's still true 45 years later--but I guess that's not surprising since it's been true for the last 2000+ years. It's on police cars, manhole covers, even trash cans.
