He was playing Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," not quite the usual subway fare. I asked him where he learned to play classical music. He said "I am Uglian, we all play this way." I was obviously confused so he added that he was from Ethiopia.
In a later discussion (after he corrected me and said he was Ugalian--"I only know how to spell it in Hebrew"), not Habeshan, he told me he also works as an electrician and might be heading to Kuwait to work on the world's tallest building.
He wrote his name as Kevin Andri'-Benjamin Martin. He carries two guitars, this classical and an electric for Jazz.

Without any fanfare that I'm aware of, the CTA has installed a moving lights display in the L station at State and Lake. Mesmerizing.
