We started 2018 the same way we have since 2011--by taking a "New Year Mugshot" photo. I thought it would be a sure challenge this year since Misty can no longer support herself in a seated position for more than a few seconds and was prepared to take the shot while she's lying down. Thankfully though, the compact sand provided a nice traction long enough for this capture. :)

It was a beautiful, cold morning at the beach and we took our blanket and stayed for a while...it was a wonderful way to start the new year.

Feels like we've finally settled back down into our daily routines after all the holiday excitements. On the mornings when Misty's feeling pretty good, she'll give me a few minutes of interaction with lots of alertness and curiosity. Caught her about to yawn, usually a sign she's done and ready to nap. :)

This was a tough week for us as we remembered the 6th anniversary of my mom's death...the whole month of January is usually one big fog and I'm glad it's almost over...

I waited all week for a glimmer of sun to attempt this week's challenge...well, silly me, I must've forgotten that I live in PNW. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw the sun...but here's Misty's constant shadow! He's gotten a lot better in the past few years, but there was a time when Jasper would not even go out for a walk without Misty. He'll forever be Misty's Robin. :)
