The "Blue Hour" in its maximum glory .... Jekyll Island (GA) Harbor Marina is on the west side of the island just south of the bridge to the mainland...all the cool restaurants are in the center of the island not far from this site.

In early May, the sun rises around 6:40am. If you're visiting Jekyll Island, drive to the northeastern side of the island. If you're traveling north along the east side road, you pull over at the first pullout spot beyond the last set of hotels on the right. Follow the short trail through the dense trees to the southern most section of Driftwood Beach. You'll be amazed how many trees you'll see like this.
Feel the gentle ocean breeze...hear the water upon the beach...enjoy the colors of morning's first light...enjoy life!

If you're visiting St Simon or Jekyll Island, GA (USA) and would like to see this Jekyll Island sunset, take Rt 520 east from Rt 17. Just over the bridge you have to pay a $5 dollar fee. Once you do this, take the first right onto River View Dr. Drive about 2 miles to the park at the southwestern section of the island on the right...park among the picnic tables. Walk about 200 feet west from the parking lot and you'll see this at high tide.

No I'm not wishing for summer to return...just going over so older shots I never got around to processing.
Believe me I'm all for winter .... I'm hoping the Tetons will get a lot of snow this winter as I'm planning a winter photo shoot there before March. I loved getting out on my snow shoes two years ago while in Jackson when they had a good snowfall for the 2009-2010 season. So...let it snow, let it snow, let it snow !
Starting in early December, I start posting a few shots of that winter trip.

I have been on travel almost a week now in and around St Simons and Jekyll Island in southeastern Georgia (USA). I always make it a point to visit both of these islands each time I visit to shoot the sunset and sunrise along at Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island and sunset on St Simons Island.
St Simons is the larger of the two and has plenty of shops and restaurants. If you can stand the humidity here in the late spring and summer I'd say this is certainly a nice place to consider vacationing as the crowds aren't that bad and each island has its unique charm.
The pier is part of Neptune Park in the small quaint section of what might be considered the downtown section. To the north end of the park is the St Simons light house ... still active over all these years.
Equipment: Canon 60D, Singh-Ray 3 stop reverse filer, 2 stop Singh-Ray soft filter, Sigma 10-20mm wa lens.
