In May 2018, I traveled to Portland. Oregon to attend a conference Marc Adamus was conducting.
While there, I met up with a Facebook friend Rachel Ross Jones, an excellent photographer and workshop host from Canada. We had a great time catching up on things on a face-to-face basis. It's fun to finally meet people you've known for a while online.
After the conference was over, I took off for Mt. St. Helens and specifically wanted to visit Johnston Ridge, where the volcanologist David A. Johnston died shortly after Mt. St. Helen's eruption on May 18th, 1980. Johnston Ridge is one awesome view of the exposed area of the volcano's blast area, scary but beautiful at the same time.
As always, I did not have enough time to stay to drive to many other sites around the mountain because I had a list I had to shoot and move as much as possible. So, in effect, I shall return.
In 2023, I plan to conduct a three day photography workshop In Jackson Hole, Wyoming in early October for the fall colors, which will include at least two nights of Milky Way photography and of course I will conduct a Photoshop Milky Way post-processing class.
