Bell Mountain in Northern Georgia has a view that is off the hook. On a recent trip myself and my good friends The Static Brothers made the trip up the mountain for sunset in John's truck. The road is one of the steepest I've been on. Sadly once at the top the all the rocks, boardwalk and parking lot are covered in graffiti. Bad graffiti. Not inner city art graffiti either. Just untalented people who are defacing a beautiful place for no reason. It's hard to overlook all the ugliness but the incredible view helps make up for it. A series of steps leads to a boardwalk with several vantage points and also a 360 degree view. At a height of 3240 ft. one looks down upon the city of Hiawassee and Lake Chatuge. Though I didn't have much hope for sunset as a storm was brewing in the distance it turned out be be pretty cool!

North Georgia is loaded with several privately owned waterfalls that are accessible to the public, you just gotta ask. One of these places we visited was Cane Creek Falls in the Camp Glisson Retreat Center which is part of the United Methodist Church’s North Georgia Conference. All we had to do was stop by the visitors center, ask about the falls and then drive a short distance to the falls parking lot near the base of the waterfall. When I shot the falls I was a bit worried about it being too blobby too, but after finally looking at my photos I think it it turned out fine. Several inches of rain had fallen a couple days before my arrival so many of the falls had more than enough water on them. This was another waterfall that I was able to wear out and get several perspectives of and though it’s got a big splash pool and open canopy it’s still a beauty in my book!

Featured In the Film "Deliverance"
L'Eau d'Or Falls
Hawthorne Pool
Tallulah Gorge State Park
Georgia
Featured in the 1972 Classic film "Deliverance" L'Eau d'Or Falls is the background setting while John Voigt searches Hawthorne Pool for Ronnie Cox who has been shot by a mountain man from the gorge rim and is later featured in the background as John Voigt climbs a 250 ft. cliff wall and when he reaches the top to kill the mountain man who killed Cox. In the film the falls has a much higher volume. At the north end of the gorge is a hydroelectric dam that was constructed in 1913, according to the park ranger, the director John Boorman had worked it out with Georgia Power where they would release large volumes of water to add to the intensity of the scenes. The falls is not the actual falls used in the film when Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty and John Voigt go over after Ronnie Cox is shot and where Burt Reynolds breaks his leg.
L'Eau d'Or Falls is French for "River Of Gold." It's name comes from when the golden sandstone cliff walls are reflected in the water after the sun strikes them.

Crow Creek Falls
Crow Creek
Chattahoochee National Forest
Georgia
I have to admit, our journey through the north Georgia mountains really opened my eyes to how beautiful that whole area is and one of the more impressive areas we saw was the gravel road that follows around Seed Lake. This 10 mile road drives above and along the banks of this gorgeous lake that’s spotted with beautiful vacation homes, but the real treat are a couple waterfalls located a short walk from the road into the Chattahoochee National Forest. One of these falls is Crow Creek Falls. After passing the 5 ft tall Lower Crow Creek Falls (which will definitely be featured later) we came to this 20 ft tall beauty. In retrospect, I wasn’t really all that impressed with the view from the side of this waterfall, but from downstream I thought the scene was killer!
