St. Augustine, Florida is my home away from home and I've been there so many times I can't count. Although I love the mountains and the waterfalls if I could live here I would without question. Since I can't, any time I get the chance to visit, I do. Our visit this time was a bit overcast. After a wonderful Easter Sunday breakfast at Margie's FA Cafe in St. Augustine Beach we decided to pay The Great Cross a visit. Although crowded I couldn't believe my eyes when I had the chance to shoot the cross without a soul in the shot and the follks who waited for me to finish my shot I greatly appreciate it. Over the years I've always made it a point to visit here, it's both peaceful and beautiful, there's so much history here. Located on the grounds of The Mission Of Nomber de Dios, nearby the the first mass in the new colony was held on Sept 8th, 1565. The Great Cross was erected in 1964 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of The Mission Of Nombre De Dios and the city of St. Augustine, Florida. The cross stands 208 ft. (63.4 m) and is the tallest cross in the western hemisphere.
