On a quick family oriented trip to Florida last week I was able to take a little time for some photography. On this morning my original plan was to photograph sunrise at the Great Cross in St. Augustine's Nombre de Dios mission along the Matanzas river however I found out the night before that there was going to be an Easter Sunrise Mass and I wouldn't be able to get anywhere near the Mission, so instead we opted to head over to St. Augustine Beach over on Anastasia Island. Upon our arrival the night before it had been overcast and when we woke up that morning I thought there was little chance that we could catch a sunrise. Well, I was off a little, sunrise itself was blocked by clouds but the as the sun rose it was quite apparent that I had been worth getting up for. For years I've wanted to shoot sunrise here, but it had never panned out. Although this wasn't exactly what I was looking for, I think everything worked out fine. You just can't go wrong watching the dawn of a new day in one of your favorite places in the world.
