The Badlands
Badlands National Park
South Dakota

5 Image HDR

When I first visited The Badlands it wasn't a National Park yet, it was a National Monument. I was five years old on a trip with my Mom and Dad, my Mom told me it was really cold for June and very windy but I don't remember that, I remember the cool rock formations and the fossil trail. Oddly when I visited a few weeks ago conditions were similar to my previous visit although I don't imagine the wind was a blustery as it was this day. In some cases I had to hold onto my tripod to keep it from blowing over. That aside, this place is beautiful. Miles and miles of rugged colorful terrain separating an upper and lower plain. One could get lost for hours in one of the most unique places on Earth.
