A return to the style - coined by the Slightly Amazing Grace as Will-ing : ) - shooting from chest level. [That is, making no real attempt to hide the camera, but making eye contact with people, while holding the camera in an obvious/suspicious way.] Walking along the same street prompted the memory from this time last year.

It almost made me a little sad, watching these kids playing in the water feature in the city centre. It made me reflect on the simple joys and innocence of childhood days past, of being in the moment, amongst the whoops and yelps of a fleeting summer day. Where did all that time go?

You can see the little-boy-lost look by Viewing Large On Black Bless 'im. : )

I came across this shop scene the other day, and quite liked it even as a potential still. But, as usual, I wanted a person in there somewhere and patiently awaited a victim… uh, I mean, innocent passer-by. I waited for about 5 minutes – as the shop was tucked away up a side street – when this scene gloriously unfolded:

About 30 feet to my left, appearing on the street corner, I suddenly became aware of a mother giving a stern, public lecture to her two young children; a boy and a slightly older girl: “I want you both to know how disappointed I am about your behaviour today…” The girl just stood quietly, looking suitably chastened, but the boy promptly turned on his heels, stomped dramatically up to this spot and sat down – mum usefully hidden by the flower display.

I’m not sure if his expression is of self-reflection or not, but I do like the slightly far away look in his eye. And, thanks to my presence with my [public spirited] lens, I inadvertently reunited them a bit quicker… when he noticed me, he seemingly decided that mum was a better option. It was so funny. He arose slightly self-consciously and began walking slowly back to the opposite street corner, glancing at me a couple of times along the way, before returning, somewhat effortlessly, into the dramatic stomp as he caught mum’s eye again. : )

View the essence of a dream long gone Large On Black

He was the only one of the quartet to notice me in the few moments I was there. His eyes met mine, and yet his emotion and expression remained distant throughout. I mouthed a 'Thank you' as I returned to my feet and in exchange he returned the merest hint of a soft smile.

I've been sitting on the poignancy of that moment for a little while, wanting the processing to do that moment some justice. I can quietly feel that underlying mood all over again now...

For some time now I've imagined our evolutionary future... A brain housed inside a body which has morphed into a huge chair, with one long digit to operate the remotes and screens; taking in liquidised junk food and coffee intravenously. It would seem this thing is evidence of that evolutionary leap - albeit its currently still taking the coffee and junk food in the conventional way.

Right!
