This was taken at Bristol Zoo. I'd gone to take pictures of the animals, and came back with, almost exclusively, pictures of people. So much for 'Watching the Animals', eh? : )

This was a deceptively busy walkway, but I managed to grab a couple of shots while sitting on the opposite bench.

Update:

At The Zoo : Watching The Animals is the image which, in significant part, provided the catalyst for the renewed enthusiasm in my photography.

Last year it made the finalists [and was featured in] The Independent Photography Competition. Then, this summer [2008], after being nudged by a good friend, I entered two images [among 1000s] into the Tate’s Street Or Studio competition, and it won through again. So, for a few weeks in the summer, you could see this image on show in Tate Modern! And, if that wasn’t surreal enough, in November it was projected to a size of about 15feet by 12feet for the official Street or Studio : A Photobook launch in Tate Britain… with the Turner Prize candidates through one adjacent archway, and a Francis Bacon retrospective the other… just bizarre! : )

A new series following Another Day in Capital City. I rarely go to London these days, but this is my third visit with camera in hand during the past 12 months… and the atmosphere, the city noise, the r-u-s-h hits me like a tidal wave every time.

Here… The relationship of some people with the camera often intrigues me. Some remain lost in their own world, some choose to remain entirely oblivious, and other times you get this inquisitive eye contact. What was he thinking, I wonder?

It almost made me a little sad, watching these kids playing in the water feature in the city centre. It made me reflect on the simple joys and innocence of childhood days past, of being in the moment, amongst the whoops and yelps of a fleeting summer day. Where did all that time go?

[Apologies to all those that have seen this one a few times these past couple of days! But while it was still generating significant views/feedback I've become hugely interested in the overall response. Ta muchly. : )]

UPDATE! This image has since leapt straight into my Top 50 Interestingnest Set in just three days [just refreshed for end of January]. This has never happened to a new image this quickly before: currently ranked 7th in my 600+ uploads. Although I'm really pleased to see one of the images from The Anatomy Of A Stroke making that metaphorical jump this month, too. : )]

View this wonderful autumn leaf urchin Large On Black

Hmmmm... So, given that my comments box is beginning to look emptier than a Greek tax return...

Time to bring out all the classic Flickr View/Comment-attracting big guns: colourful autumn leaves; a gorgeous child's face; and if you look carefully you'll see a reflection of a puppy dog in one eye and a kitten playing with some pink, fluffy ribbon in the other... [Cue View/Commenting stampede! ;-)]
