Marchitecture is still running! So go check out and join the Marchitecture 2024 group and build some awesome microscale architecture models this month for a chance to win cool prizes. You can enter in two different categories and digital builds are welcome, too.
Okay, I had way too much fun doing these little promo builds in preparation for the contest, so I did a few more. Half of them are based on real buildings and half on fictional properties. Can you recognize them all?

The Western desert campaign during WWII began with an unsuccessful attempt by the Italians to capture Egypt and the vital Suez Canal from the British. The Governor General of Italian Libya, Rodolfo Graziani led the effort with 150,000 men of the Italian 10th army and captured the town of Sidi Barrani. However, the Italians had suffered from major logistical issues and were not able to go further. The British led by Generals Archibald Wavell and Richard O'Connor gathered their forces, which consisted of the 4th Indian division and 7th armored division with Matilda and Crusader tanks. The offensive began in December 1940 and within 3 days, the Italians were driven out of Egypt. The Italians vastly outnumbered the British as they had just 36,000 troops but the British had more advanced tanks compared to the Italians. The 4th Indian division would soon be sent to Sudan and the 6th Australian division would replace them. Nonetheless they would have similar success and they would capture the town of Bardia on the border. The vital port city of Tobruk was soon captured in January 1941 along with other cities on the coast by February 1941. The Italian army in Libya was devastated.
Within a span of two months, the British had successfully pushed the Italians out of Egypt and captured much of Libya at the cost of just 500 men compared to the Italians 5,500 dead and 133,000 captured. However, the British were not able to maximize their gains as some troops from North Africa were sent to Greece to join the allied defense there. To make matters worse, the Germans would reinforce their Italian allies by sending in the Afrika Korps led by Erwin Rommel who would soon reverse their gains won during the operation.
