A juvenile Tri-colored Heron staggers through the remnants of the dying water hyacinth to search for a meal on Armand Bayou. This youngster was fishing on the float mass near Bay Area Park.

Sir Lance A Lot ponders what the day may bring near the mouth of Horsepen Bayou. He’s perched on an old tree lodged in the mud in the early morning light. A Tri-colored Heron shakes off the cobwebs of the evening and prepares for a busy day on the bayou while being harassed by that clown in canoe.

This particular juvenile was very reluctant to leave and I have a feeling that he was having an issue this the one foot. I know that the rest like this remain in this position as long as they don’t feel threatened, but something just didn’t seem right, and I didn’t try to get any closer. This is a juvenile Tri-colored Heron perched on an old snag on Horsepen Bayou.

I believe that we were all having the same issues with the dastardly panda and hope that it’s going to play by the rules now. A strange title for a photo, but this is taken with the Sony and when used properly, it produces some nice results. This is an adult Tri-colored Heron perched on a branch overhanging Horsepen Bayou.

Also want to add that Delta will be a non-event in our area and will slide off into Louisiana just to the east of us flowing a similar track to that of Laura. Delta doesn’t seem to be as intense and doesn’t seem to be carrying as much rain and so am hoping that the residents of Louisiana will be spared the flooding and extreme winds and damage caused by Laura. No time to let our guard down and we’ll hope for the best for all of those concerned.

The water was very high on this particular day and the canoe made it into the this are comfortably and I spotted this beautiful Tri-colored Heron (one of many on this particular outing) perched on these old branches anchored in the mud on Horsepen Bayou. He was fairly comfortable with my presence and so I kept trying to get a better angle on him. This is what I was photographing prior to looking over my shoulder and spotting the Great Blue Heron that I posted yesterday. High water usually means a lack of birds, but there were many to be had on this particular outing.
