This Green Heron didn’t spend a lot of time after I arrived, but I did manage to get a decent shot of him. The nictitating membrane is closed in this capture and the reason the eye is not clear and sharp. Photo was taken on Horsepen Bayou.

The computer has been stable all day and so am keeping my fingers crossed.

I wasn’t expecting much, but extremely surprised to find one of my Leprechaun friends skulking about in the dead reeds. The other surprise here is that this is not my Nikon, but the new Sony RX10 IV. I have not been overjoyed with the photos until I saw this one and noticed that there is a considerable amount of detail in the little Greenie. The photo was taken from the boardwalk at El. Franco Lee Park. It’s been a busy day and am a bit late with my comments.

I hope that I have some better shots, but catching two youngsters together in the same frame was rather nice. I can’t say much for the bokeh and such, but you see it just a I see it. I don’t alter backgrounds and so you see all of the branches at the waters edge where these characters live. These two Green Herons are still too young to try to spear a fish and I am sure that they rely on mom to provide their necessary needs until they are able to fend for themselves. They were searching for bugs and spiders amongst the twigs and branches near the waters edge. The tide was low when I took this shot, but that changed dramatically in the few hours that I was on the bayou. Photo taken on Horsepen Bayou.

This is one-half of the pair that I posted a couple of days ago and in a better setting. He’ll learn to dangle from the bottom of that limb in a couple of months and make any Nuthatch GREEN with envy. Green Heron captured on Horsepen bayou.

One on the young Green Herons flew up the bayou and landed at the water’s edge and immediately began searching for something to eat. I guess the natural urge to hunt runs strong in this species. Photo taken on Horsepen Bayou.
