I believe that this looks more like the Pacific Ocean and that Maui is a great place for sightseeing. There were no spectacular sunsets to be had on our latest trip, but it was great to leave all of our troubles behind and just get away from everything. It’s a great place to visit and you can’t beat the food. Photo was taken in Kaanapali with Lanai just off to the left in this scene.

I am sure that those sailors who visited the island in days of yore had no idea what they were leaving behind when they planted these trees. The trees go by a number of different names including Cook pine…according to Wikipedia. They wanted to have a fresh supply of masts for their sailing ships when they returned to the islands. They’ve made a lasting impression on the islands. This is a row of trees lining the road on Maui in Kapalua. Our ship didn’t require a new mast while we were there, so they were all left in wonderful condition.

Difficult to believe that these things can survive in the wild in Hawaii without anyone lifting a finger. Someone had stuffed these into the branches of a tree, and they seemed to be perfectly happy with their location. Have no idea what the name on this one is, but perhaps my friend Sue can lend a hand in that area.
I didn’t have a lot of time for photography on this trip and so the photos are limited in scope. An orchid growing in a tree in Kapalua on Maui.

On an extremely windy day Oneloa Bay in Kapalua Maui had been whipped into a frenzy by the winds and just taking a photo was a challenge in the gusty winds. The high winds and wave action also cause a lot of mist to be entrained in the air and so Moloka’i was s bit obscured by the haze. I enjoyed watch the waves crash against the lava formations off in the distance. It’s wonderful place to explore in Maui.

In between the crashing waves there were spots of tranquility and I got only one opportunity for a shot at this sea turtle. I waited and waited and never saw it again. Photo taken in Oneloa Bay.
