There were two of these Little Blue Herons on the bayou a couple of weeks ago, but they wanted nothing to do with me and my canoe. This one is beginning to transition from the all while juvenile state in to the blue/gray colors of adulthood. Photo taken on Horsepen Bayou!

Found another of these in between birds and thought I would share it. This is another Little Blue Heron that has almost completed the transition from all white to this final blue and plum colors. Maybe there’s a hint of those plum colors starting to develop on the head, but I think that maybe I am just willing to change. This one will be a striking adult very soon. Was debating whether to post this a shot of the bayou or a shot of this Little Blue Heron in transition and so you get a little of both. This heron is between the all white stage and the gray/blue stage with the purple feather on head and neck. He was in a portion of the shallow water on Horsepen Bayou where the reflections on the water worked out nicely as well.
