Into the barbeque pit or hiking into Haleakala!
A truly alien world!
I know that I have talked about taking you down inside the volcano and have tried to figure out a way to make it interesting and not boring! Not sure why this is one of my favorite places on earth ( I am not well traveled) but there is a beauty present that you can't find anywhere else! The other factor is that even though there are a few hearty souls that venture down inside the crater there are not that many people that do it and I think most people respect the extreme tranquility and beauty that is contained within!! I would say that I saw roughly 20 people on my two hour hike inside! Had intended to walk a bit farther in, but I saw the clouds moving up the valley and knew that I wanted to get some shots of the crater floor before the clouds covered it and so made a mad ( extremely difficult ) climb out in order to make that happen!! Strenuous exercise in the rare air at 10,000 will get a person huffing and puffing pretty good!! There are a bunch of shots in this group and some of them are similar but I want to upload all of them!! I will try to put descriptions on all of the views after I upload them! They are not in any order!! Hope you enjoy the journey down into an alien world that is a part of our magnificent planet!
I did not go for the sunrise as it is usually bitterly cold and the wind tends to really howl at that altitude!
