Just before I spotted the large buck this is really what I was concentrating on at the time! I initially spotted the single Snowy perched on the old fallen when I paddled up to the area and was completely engrossed in trying to get a good shot when this pair a little bit farther around the point came into view! I immediately switched focus and began trying to get closer to this pair and so wanted to get this one right! It was a chore pushing the canoe between the old snags sticking out of the water but I knew I HAD to get this shot! Little did I know what would happen with the deer! I sometimes get the impression that some think that I am making up these stories about photographing animals but I will just say that the storyline would be exactly the same! Actually I was photographing this particular Snowy along with a Snowy and a young juvenile Tri-colored Heron both perched on the same old log! Was also trying to get close enough to an Osprey perched in a nearby tree without scaring the birds away when the buck wandered onto the scene! He definitely saw me but didn't seem concerned! So here's the Snowy Egret that I was zoned in on when I caught the deer out of the corner of my eye! And that's a fact Jack!!! Photo was taken on Armand Bayou!

Before the deer wandered out to the water's edge this is what I was concentrating on! I think I got the adjustments right to pick up a bit of detail in the white plumage on this Snowy!! The young Tri-colored add in some nice bokeh as well! Photo was taken on Armand Bayou!

As I stated in a previous post we were very fortunate on the bayou that a rookery was established a few years ago near the bayou and that a number of the fledglings show up on the bayou! As Gary stated these were once quite a rarity in the bayou system but have become quite common and are not as skittish as they once were! This particular juvenile Little Blue Heron was very accommodating as stayed put while I made my captures! Photo taken on Horsepen Bayou!

I was fortunate that this wary bayou Egret stuck around for a capture!! He was occupying the high ground or should I say tree and kept an eye on my every move!! Great Egret in breeding colors perched above Horsepen Bayou! He is sporting a wee bit of green in honor of St. Patrick's Day!! Hope everyone had a wonderful day!!
