Not that white cold stuff but this frantic hunter taking a break on an exposed piece of driftwood on Horsepen Bayou! Photo was taken at very low tide! The area behind this Egret is usually under water and can be paddled when the tides are normal in the area! The bayou system is a coastal estuary and tides and high winds affect the water levels quite drastically at this time of the year!

A Snowy Egret waiting patiently for a bite to eat on Armand Bayou! I like the highlight in the eye!

Most of the time it's a battle to control the canoe and the wind is your enemy but on this particular photo the wind was favorable and blew the canoe directly toward the Egret! There is a point when reaching for the paddle will frighten the bird as much as the approach of the canoe and in this case the move toward the paddle spooked this particular subject! I'm sure he was wondering when I was going to put on the brakes!

I don't do too many white birds but in this case everything worked out!
